Leukemia is treated at the U-M Cancer Center in the Adult Hematology Clinic.

The Clinic

The Adult Hematology Clinic at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center is comprised of faculty from the Division of Hematology/Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine. A list of physicians and staff is available on the UMHS website.

The Adult Hematology Clinic provides comprehensive care for patients with benign and malignant disorders of the hematopoietic system (cancers of the blood and marrow, such as Leukemia, Blood Disorders, Multiple Myeloma and Myeloproliferative Disorders ).

Diagnostic services provided by the clinic include state-of-the-art evaluation based upon the interpretation of radiographic (X-ray ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET and other nuclear scans) and laboratory studies.

Therapeutic services provided include single agent and multi-agent chemotherapy, "high dose" chemotherapy with bone marrow transplantation (both autologous and allogeneic), immunotherapy (including cytokines and monoclonal antibodies), transfusion of blood and other blood products, management of cancer and chemotherapy-related symptoms (including pain, nausea, constipation), genetic counseling about cancer risk and chemoprevention.

Clinic faculty are active participants in basic and clinical research studies that include both institutional and national cooperative group clinical trials.
